Welcome to Retro Singh

Welcome to Retro Singh
This blog exists for one very simple reason.

I like stuff.

Retro stuff. New stuff. Old stuff pretending to be new stuff. Films, books, games, technology, toys, gadgets and pretty much anything that sparks a memory or catches my attention.

If it involves nostalgia, there's a good chance I'll end up writing about it.

Growing up in the 1980s and 1990s, I was lucky enough to experience some amazing things. Saturday mornings spent playing video games. Family trips to Argos clutching a tiny paper slip. Renting films from the local video shop. Toys that needed nothing more than a handful of AA batteries and a vivid imagination.

Back then, there were no software updates, no online accounts and no notifications asking if I'd like to subscribe to a premium version.

You switched it on and got on with it.

These days I'm still fascinated by technology, but I also find myself looking back at the things that shaped my childhood and wondering why they still make me smile all these years later.

One day I might be talking about a battered old handheld game that's somehow survived four decades. The next I might be reviewing a book, writing about a trip to the cinema, discussing a new gadget or sharing a random memory that was unlocked by hearing a familiar startup sound.

It's simply a collection of things I've enjoyed, things I've discovered and things I don't want to forget.

Sometimes I'll be nostalgic.

Sometimes I'll be opinionated.

Sometimes I'll spend 1,000 words explaining why a toy from 1986 is more exciting than a piece of technology released last week.

So grab a brew and have a look around.

You might discover a forgotten toy from your childhood, a film you've not thought about for years, a book worth reading or a gadget that makes absolutely no sense but is somehow brilliant anyway.
